Injuries that result from a motor vehicle accident are often misunderstood. Frequently, the pain or other symptoms of the injury are not apparent at the time of the accident. The amount of damage to the car does not depict the amount of injury sustained by the victim. Studies indicate that injuries can occur at impact speeds of 8 mph where there is little or even no damage to the car. Today's cars absorb much of the impact in the bumper, but transmit this energy from impact to the person's head and neck in much the same fashion as when one pool ball hits another.

The reason that so many vital nerves, muscles, and blood vessels are located in the neck that even a minor sudden jolt can cause damage. Studies have shown that the normal neck can withstand a forward snapping motion of 50 times the force of gravity before producing an injury. However, in the case of a backward rebounding motion, only 5 times the force of gravity can be tolerated. An automobile traveling only 25 miles an hour creates 3,400 pounds of force. The impact of crash at this speed will place several tons of force on the victims neck.

SCOLIOSIS

Scoliosis can affect boys and girls however there seems to be a more frequent occurrence in girls between the ages of 8 and 18.

Scoliosis is a abnormal sideways curvature in the spine that makes an "S" or "C" shape. 

In the beginning, which is the easiest time to correct,  there is rarely any symptoms. A parent however may notice a shoulder that is higher or a hip that is lower, and uneven waist or leaning to one side. Clothing that doesn't fit properly can be a sign. Your child may have back and leg pains but are overlooked as "growing pains".
